In search of the yoga body...
How many of us look at photos of models in magazines and yearn to look like them? Keep in mind, most of the photos are in the ads trying to sell you something, so the advertiser wants to have an ideal-looking model. Most likely, that photo has been edited to smooth out any blemishes, real or perceived, that the model might have. This means we are yearning to look like someone who doesn't really exist!
Or maybe the model is twisted into some impossible-looking shape. Two things happen when I see photos like this: 1. I look for alignment issues (that's the teacher training coming out), and 2. I wonder, "Can I ever look like that?" But we need to ask ourselves first: WHY would you want to be a pretzel? What benefit is it offering to your body, mind, or spirit? If being in that shape offers you a true benefit, than see what you can do to get there, in small baby-steps, working towards your own version of the pose. One that works for YOU.
And that is how we get the Yoga Body that is right for us!
